Common Proficiency Test commonly known as CPT is exam for entrance into CA (Chartered Accountancy) course, conducted by ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) in June and December. The exam is conducted two times in year such as CA Final and IPCC (Intermediate) Examinations. The details of the exam are given below. Exam is conducted at various centres of India.

To get eligible in CPT and study CA course candidate are required to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Candidates must have passed SSC.

  2. Candidates should have registered for the exam after completion of SSC.

  3. They write their exam after 10+2.

The average Package of CA is Rs 7.11 Lakh per annum.

As a CA you can work in both public and private sector. The initial salary for CA profession is between Rs. 25,000 to Rs 30,000 per month. With experience you may earn up to Rs. 1,00,000 per month. If you opt to work in private firms there is no upper limit as such.

The ICAI has excellent starting salaries in MNCs, commercial organizations in public and private sectors, foreign and local banks and audit firms. The Committee for Members in industry (CMII) of ICAI organizes Campus placement programs for all levels of Chartered Accountants. It is interesting to note that the highest salary offered for Domestic posting under this program of campus placement for Feb- March 2013 was Rs 16.55 Lakh per annum to 5 candidates at New Delhi by Bharti Airtel. The highest salary offered for international posting in the Campus Placement Program for Feb-March 2013 was Rs 21 Lakh per annum offered by Industries at New Delhi center to 4 candidates.
